2, 2007 LANCASTER, PA -- Washington College senior outside hitter Katherine O'Brien (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) has been named to the 2007 All-Centennial Conference second team for volleyball in a vote conducted by the conference's coaches. She is the first WC volleyball player to earn All-Centennial Conference honors two times in her career as she garnered second-team honors in 2006. O'Brien led the Centennial Conference in kills per game with 4.86. She hit even better in Centennial play, leading the league with 4.87 kills per game in conference matches. She set the school's record for kills in a match with 31 against Villa Julie on September 29. On October 6 versus Delaware Valley, she established the mark for kills in a three-game match by a Centennial Conference player with 28. She reached double-digits in kills 24 times in 25 matches and had 17 double-doubles in 2007. She set the school's record for kills in a single season when she tallied her 395th kill against Bryn Mawr on October 24. O'Brien was second on the Shorewomen in hitting percentage (.222), digs per game (3.60) and service aces per game (0.45). She was the lone player in the conference to rack up 400 kills and 300 digs as she had 413 and 306 respectively. She finishes her career with 1,127 kills, 3.58 kills per game, 1,030 digs and 3.27 digs per game. She ranks second all-time in kills, kills per game and digs per game and fourth in digs. |
