2006 COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- Visiting Washington College hit .295 as a team in a 30-17, 30-25, 30-24, Centennial Conference volleyball victory over host Ursinus College today in Collegeville, PA. The win was the third straight for the Shorewomen (6-16, 2-5 Centennial), who completed a 3-0 week. Washington came out strong in game one, hitting .389 with 17 kills against only three errors in 36 attempts. The Shorewomen put up 16 kills against three errors in 46 attempts in game two and 11 kills against six errors in 23 attempts in game three. Junior outside hitter Katherine O'Brien (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) led the hitting attack, pounding down 18 kills with just two errors in 35 attempts. O'Brien also tallied 11 digs and served three aces. Freshman setter Caitlin Ward (Wantagh, NY/Holy Trinity) put up 35 assists and notched four kills in four attempts. Sophomore outside hitter Chelsea Crum (Newark, DE/Charter School of Wilmington) added 10 digs, two aces, and four kills, while senior middle hitter Nanna Kozemchak (Falls Church, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) tallied six kills and a pair of solo blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Trish McCarthy (Durham, NH/Oyster River) finished with six kills and no errors in 11 attempts. Sophomore libero Arielle Brown (Merion, PA/Lower Merion) recorded eight digs in the win. Washington College returns to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home match against Johns Hopkins. |
