19, 2006 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Erica George had 17 kills and Kearney Bangs handed out 33 assists as Swarthmore downed Washington College, 3-0 (30-23, 30-25, 30-28), in Centennial Conference volleyball action on Tuesday evening at the Cain Athletic Center. Swarthmore (9-3, 2-0 CC) got double figure dig totals from Johanna Bond with 14 and Erin Heaney with 10. George recorded her 1,000th kill in the match. She recorded the kill in the second set and got the Garnet's first point in the set. Junior outside hitter Katherine O'Brien (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) led the Shorewomen with 14 kills and 10 digs in the match. Freshman setter Caitlin Ward (Wantagh, NY/Holy Trinity) dished out 27 assists in the contest. Senior middle hitter Nanna Kozemchak (Falls Church, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) and sophomore outside hitter Chelsea Crum (Newark, DE/Charter School of Wilmington) each had seven kills. Kozemchak also had nine digs in the match. Washington College (3-10, 0-2 CC) returns to action on Wednesday, September 27, at McDaniel for a 7 p.m. Centennial Conference contest. |
