October 5, 2005 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Haverford College swept host Washington College, 30-21, 30-24, 30-17, in a Centennial Conference volleyball match this evening in Cain Athletic Center. The Fords improved to 12-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 7-12 and 0-3. Heidi Jutsum recorded 12 kills against only one error in 22 attempts for Haverford, while Laura Nuyen tallied 11 kills. Samantha Thomson contributed a match-high 22 digs, Nina Mullenhard served five aces, and Emily Hinchcliff totaled 33 assists. Sophomore outside hitter Katherine O'Brien (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) led Washington with seven kills against one error in 20 attempts. Junior middle hitter Nanna Kozemchak (Falls Church, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) finished with 12 digs and three blocks in the loss, while freshman setter Arielle Brown (Merion, PA/Lower Merion) totaled 19 assists. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home match against Gettysburg. |
