WC Defeats Goucher in Home Opener
Brown Leads Shorewomen With Solid Performance

CHESTERTOWN, MD-- Washington College defeated Goucher, 30-25, 30-21, 27-30, 30-16, in its volleyball home opener at Cain Athletic Center on Wednesday evening. Freshman setter Arielle Brown (Merion, PA/Lower Merion) recorded a game-high 36 assists along with nine digs, seven aces and seven kills.

Washington's night was capped by runs of 11-0 and 15-3 in games two and four, respectively.

Sophomore outside hitter Katherine O'Brien (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) added a team-high 14 kills and 17 digs and an assisted block, while senior outside hitter Abigail Benson (New London, PA/Avon Grove) notched a double-double of her own with ten kills and 12 digs. Junior middle hitter Nanna Kozemchak (Falls Church, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) contributed eight kills, eight digs and one assisted block.

The Shorewomen return to action on Friday at the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic. Washington will play its first match of the weekend against Eastern Shore rival Salisbury University on Friday at 5 p.m.
