F&M Sweeps WC in CC Opener
Diplomats Make Late Run in Each Game

LANCASTER, PA -- Host Franklin & Marshall used pivotal runs late in each game en route to a 30-24, 30-23, 30-28 win over visiting Washington College in the Centennial Conference opener for both teams this evening in Lancaster, PA.

Game one was tied at 23-23 before Franklin & Marshall (4-1,1-0 Centennial) went on a 7-1 run to end the game. The Shorewomen (4-5, 0-1) led game two, 19-18, and were still within two when the Diplomats led, 25-23. F&M then scored the final five points of the game to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Washington raced out to a 20-10 lead in game three, but the Diplomats came all the way back to tie the score at 28-28 and went on to the 30-28 win.

Senior outside hitter Lauren Ford (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) had a team-high nine kills and added eight digs, one solo block, and one assisted block for Washington. Senior outside hitter Abigail Benson (New London, PA/Avon Grove) posted eight kills and a team-high 14 digs, while junior middle hitter Nanna Kozemchak (Falls Church, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) contributed five kills and 13 digs. Freshman setter Arielle Brown (Merion, PA/Lower Merion) finished with 30 assists and 10 digs in the match.

The Shorewomen return to action on Friday at the Maryland Division III Tournament at Johns Hopkins. Washington will play its first match of the weekend against Frostburg State Friday at 3:00 p.m.
