WC Falls to Dickinson in Home Finale
O'Brien Turns in Double-Double in Loss

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Dropping the first two games of the match was too much to overcome for the Washington College volleyball team Saturday afternoon as the Shorewomen dropped their home finale to visiting Dickinson 3-1 (30-28, 30-28, 24-30, 30-27). Sophomore outside hitter Katherine O'Brien (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) recorded a double-double with a team-high 11 kills and 16 digs in the losing effort for Washington.

The Shorewomen hung tough with the Red Devils in games one and two, but were unable to put consecutive points together when it mattered most, as the Red Devils took the first two games 30-28. Game three started out close, however, Washington was able to rattle off a 12-3 run en route to the 30-24 win. But a 3-1 run at the end of game four helped put the match away for Dickinson, as they took the game 30-27.

Senior outside hitter Abigail Benson (New London, PA/Avon Grove) added nine kills, 14 digs, and three service aces, while freshman setter Arielle Brown (Merion, PA/Lower Merion) notched 35 assists and a team-high 18 digs. Senior middle hitter Marcie McConville (Westminster, MD/Westminster)contributed eight kills, and a team-high five blocks for Washington.
