Shorewomen Sweep Cabrini, Lincoln
WC Holds Lincoln to 26 Points in Three Games

RADNOR, PA -- The Washington College volleyball team picked up its first two wins of the season and set two team records today at a tri-match hosted by Cabrini College. The Shorewomen (2-1) topped Cabrini in their first match, 30-20, 30-24, 30-17. In Washington's second match, the Shorewomen blew past Lincoln, 30-6, 30-13, 30-7. The six points allowed in the first game are the fewest Washington has ever allowed in a thirty-point rally-scoring game, while the 26 points Lincoln scored in the match are the fewest Washington has allowed in a match since rallying scoring began in 2001.

Senior outside hitter Abigail Benson (New London, PA/Avon Grove) tallied 11 kills and three aces against Cabrini, while junior middle hitter Nanna Kozemchak (Falls Church, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) added eight kills and four aces. Freshman setter Arielle Brown (Merion, PA/Lower Merion) contributed 21 assists and three aces. Senior middle hitter Marcie McConville (Westminster, MD/Westminster) and senior outside hitter Lauren Ford (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) finished with six and five kills, respectively.

Brown tallied a double-double of 26 assists and 11 aces against Lincoln. Brown served the final 15 points of the match's third game. Benson and sophomore outside hitter Katherine O'Brien (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) each added seven kills in the victory, while senior middle hitter Amanda Jones (Chadds Ford, PA/Unionville) pounded down six kills in only seven attempts.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with their home opener, a 7:00 p.m. match against Goucher.
