Hopkins Downs WAC in Three Games
O'Brien Tallies 8 Kills for Washington

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Johns Hopkins University improved to 12-9 overall and 6-2 in Centennial Conference play this season with a 30-17, 30-25, 30-21 sweep of host Washington College in a Centennial Conference volleyball match this evening at Cain Athletic Center. The Shorewomen slipped to 14-2 and 3-4 with the loss.

Freshman middle hitter Katherine O'Brien (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) recorded a team-high eight kills in the loss for the Shorewomen. Sophomore setter Laura Shand (Sykesville, MD/Liberty) put up a team-best 24 assists, pounded down five kills, and scooped out eight digs.

Junior outside hitter Abigail Benson (New London, PA/Avon Grove), junior middle hitter Marcie McConville (Westminster, MD/Westminster), and sophomore middle hitter Nanna Kozemchak (Falls Church, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) each had a team-high 10 digs for the Shorewomen. McConville led Washington in blocks with four (one solo, three assists) and added six kills.

The Shorewomen are back in action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference match at Dickinson.
