October 5, 2004 HAVERFORD, PA -- Host Haverford College defeated visiting Washington College in five games in a Centennial Conference volleyball match this evening in Haverford, PA. Game scores were 23-30, 30-24, 30-22, 28-30, 15-9. The Fords improved to 11-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 12-9 and 1-2 with the loss. Washington sophomore setter Laura Shand (Sykesville, MD/Liberty) turned in her second consecutive triple-double performance and her fourth of the season, finishing with 13 kills against no errors in 22 attempts, 43 assists, and 14 digs. Junior middle hitter Marcie McConville (Westminster, MD/Westminster) added 15 kills, while junior outside hitter Abigail Benson (New London, PA/Avon Grove), sophomore middle hitter Nanna Kozemchak (Falls Church, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes), and junior outside hitter Lauren Ford (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) each pounded down nine kills. Kozemchak and senior outsider hitter Laura Greenback (Riva, MD/South River) finished with 10 digs each. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference match at Gettysburg. |
