4, 2003 LANGHORNE, PA -- The Washington College volleyball team slipped to 2-17 overall this season with a 30-22, 30-13, 27-30, 30-22 non-conference loss at Philadelphia Biblical this morning. The Shorewomen bounced back after dropping the first two games to win the third, but the Crimson Eagles wrapped things up by winning game four. Sophomore middle blocker Marcie McConville (Westminster, MD/Westminster) and freshman setter Laura Shand (Sykesville, MD/Liberty) tied for team-high honors in kills with eight. Shand also tallied a team-best 22 assists, while McConville led the team in blocks with three solo blocks and two block assists. Senior setter Katie Orga (Wilmington, DE/Ursuline Academy) led the Shorewomen in digs with 14, while sophomore outside hitter Abigail Benson (New London, PA/Avon Grove) added 12 digs of her own. Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Ford (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) served a team-high three aces to go along with 10 digs. She also pounded down seven kills with only one error. The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home match against McDaniel. |
