25, 2003 LANCASTER, PA -- The Washington College volleyball team lost a pair of Centennial Conference volleyball matches this afternoon at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. In their first match, the Shorewomen fell to Ursinus in five game, 30-23, 27-30, 32-34, 30-27, 15-8, and in their second match, they lost to Muhlenberg, 30-17, 30-18, 30-24. Against Ursinus, freshman setter Laura Shand (Sykesville, MD/Liberty) tallied team-highs of 33 assists, 13 digs, four solo blocks, and four block assists. Sophomore outside hitters Abigail Benson (New London, PA/Avon Grove) and Lauren Ford (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) tied for the team lead in kills with 12. Benson added 11 digs, while Ford tallied 12 digs. Sophomore middle blocker Marcie McConville (Westminster, MD/Westminster) served a team-high three aces and also notched nine kills, two solo blocks, and two block assists. Freshman outside hitter Nanna Kozemchak (Falls Church, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) scooped out 10 digs. In the match against Muhlenberg, Shand led the Shorewomen with seven kills, 18 assists, nine digs, one solo block, and one block assist. Benson added five kills, seven digs, and two service aces, while McConville finished with six kills. The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference match at Johns Hopkins. |
