8, 2003 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College volleyball team dropped a Centennial Conference match to McDaniel College in three games this evening at Cain Athletic Center's Russell Gymnasium. Game scores were 30-28, 30-20, and 30-21. Sophomore middle blocker Marcie McConville (Westminster, MD/Westminster) led the Shorewomen (2-18 overall, 1-2 Centennial Conference) in kills with eight. She also tallied two of the team's three solo blocks on the evening. Freshman setter Laura Shand (Sykesville, MD/Liberty) tallied 18 assists and served two aces. Freshman outside hitter Nanna Kozemchak (Falls Church, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) paced the squad in digs with 14, while sophomore outside hitter Abigail Benson (New London, PA/Avon Grove) and senior setter Katie Orga (Wilmington, DE/Ursuline Academy) each contributed 10 digs. Benson also served a pair of aces. Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Ford (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) pounded down seven kills, including six in the first game. The Shorewomen are back in action Saturday when they take on Centennial Conference foes Gettysburg and Dickinson at Muhlenberg College. |
