30, 2003 BETHLEHEM, PA -- The Washington College Shorewomen
opened their 2003 season this weekend at the Moravian College Greyhound
Premiere. The Shorewomen went 0-4 at the tournament and are back in
action next Friday and Saturday at the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic. The Shorewomen fell to the tournament hosts
in their first match Friday evening. Freshman setter Laura Shand
(Sykesville, MD/Liberty) put up team-highs of seven assists and
eight digs and notched a pair of kills. Sophomore outside hitter Abigail
Benson (New London, PA/Avon Grove) tallied six digs and two kills.
In Saturday's matches against Alvernia and Gallaudet, Shand combined for 13 assists, 11 digs, three aces, and two solo blocks. Benson scooped out 15 digs, and recorded four kills and two assists in the two matches, while McConville had four kills, four aces, two solo blocks and one block assist. |
