30, 2002 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College Shorewomen concluded their 2002 home schedule with a 3-1 loss to visiting York (PA) College this evening at Cain Athletic Center. The Shorewomen won the first game, 30-26, but the Spartans captured the next three, 30-17, 30-21, 30-25. WC is now 5-24 on the season, while York's record stands at 21-10. The Shorewomen stormed out to a 13-4 lead in the first game, but the Spartans clawed back to take four one-point leads late in the game, the last of which came at 24-23. WC then ran off seven of the final nine points to win the game. In the middle two games, York took control with 9-1 and 8-0 spurts, respectively. Game four saw York take a 21-13 lead before the Shorewomen came back to pull within two points at 27-25. The Spartans scored the game's final three points to win the match. WC's three seniors - setter Amy Milauskas (Ellicott City, MD/Seton Keough) and middle hitters Katie Froning (Kennett Square, PA/Kennett) and Rebekah Beckett (Cordova, AK/Cordova) played in the final home match of their collegiate careers. Froning posted a team-best three solo blocks and assisted on another block. She also hit .429 in the match, pounding down nine kills and committing no errors in 21 attempts. Milauskas finished the match with a team-high 13 assists. Sophomore outside hitter Laura Greenback (Riva, MD/South River) finished with team highs of 11 kills and five service aces to go along with 16 digs. Junior defensive specialist Lindsay Tegeler (Baltimore, MD/Mt. Carmel) scooped out a team-high 17 digs. The Shorewomen conclude their season this Friday and Saturday at the Elizabethtown Invitational.
