WC Drops Match to Blue Jays
Greenback Tallies 12 Digs in Loss

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The visiting Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays defeated the host Washington College Shorewomen in three games in a Centennial Conference volleyball match this evening at Cain Athletic Center. Game scores were 30-17, 30-23, and 30-18. The Shorewomen slipped to 3-20 overall and 0-5 in league play, while Hopkins evened its overall record at 16-16 and remained unbeaten in conference play at 5-0.

The Shorewomen trailed just 16-15 midway through the first game, but the Blue Jays scored 14 of the final 16 points to pull away for the win. Washington led the second game, 7-3, but a 12-1 spurt by Hopkins gave the Blue Jays a 15-8 lead. The Shorewomen rallied to within three, at 24-21, but that was as close as they would get. In the third game, Hopkins used an early 10-0 run to go up 13-3 and take control of the game.

WC sophomore outside hitter Laura Greenback (Riva, MD/South River) led the Shorewomen with 12 digs. Senior middle hitter Katie Froning (Kennett Square, PA/Kennett) posted team-highs of five kills and four assisted blocks. Senior setter Amy Milauskas (Ellicott City, MD/Seton Keough) contributed nine assists and two aces.

The Shorewomen will play at Gettysburg College in a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference tri-match this Saturday against the host Bullets and Muhlenberg.
