WC Opens Season at Invitational
Shorewomen Take CND to Five Games

CARLISLE, PA -- The Washington College Shorewomen opened their 2002 season this weekend at the Dickinson College Invitational. The Shorewomen went 0-4 at the tournament, but did push Notre Dame (MD) to five games in WC's third match of the weekend.

Philadelphia Bible 3, Washington College 1 (29-31, 30-17, 30-11, 30-27)
The Shorewomen won a tight first game, but dropped the next three in the loss. Junior defensive specialist Lindsay Tegeler (Baltimore, MD/Mt. Carmel) finished with 28 digs in the match, while sophomore outside hitter Laura Greenback (Riva, MD/South River) tallied eight kills, 22 digs, and three service aces. Senior setter Amy Milauskas (Ellicott City, MD/Seton Keough) recorded 19 assists. WC STATS

Lebanon Valley 3, Washington College 0 (30-19, 30-15, 30-18)
Greenback tallied eight kills and 12 digs against Lebanon Valley, while Tegeler finished with 12 digs of her own. Milauskas and junior setter Katie Orga (Wilmington, DE/Ursuline Academy) each had ten assists. WC STATS

Notre Dame (MD) 3, Washington College 2 (26-30, 30-23, 24-30, 30-18, 15-10)
Freshman outside hitter Abby Benson (Avon Grove, PA/Avon Grove) led the Shorewomen with 13 kills, while Greenback tallied 12, and freshman middle hitter Marcie McConville (Westminster, MD/Westminster) finished with 11. Tegeler added 21 digs. Orga notched 15 assists, while Milauskas had 12. WC STATS

Waynesburg 3, Washington College 0 (30-11, 30-24, 30-21)
McConville finished with four solo blocks, one assisted block, and six kills. Senior middle hitter Katie Froning (Kennett Square, PA/Kennett) contributed two solo blocks and seven assisted blocks. Milauskas tallied nine assists, while Orga added six. Greenback finished with five kills. WC STATS

The Shorewomen return to action next Friday and Saturday at the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic.
