WC Ends Season at Messiah
Shorewomen Take Game from Saints

GRANTHAM, PA -- The Washington College volleyball team finished its 2001 season today at the Messiah College Invitational. The Shorewomen lost in three games to Scranton (30-9, 30-22, 30-14) and Catholic (30-13, 30-9, 30-15), before picking up the first game against Marymount (28-30, 30-25, 30-24, 30-14).

Scranton 3, Washington College 0 (30-9, 30-22, 30-14)
Freshman outside hitter Laura Greenback (Riva, MD/South River) tallied nine kills, while junior middle hitter Katie Froning (Kennett Square, PA/Kennett) recorded nine digs against the Royals. WC MATCH STATS

Catholic 3, Washington College 0 (30-13, 30-9, 30-15)
Froning had a team-high six kills against the Cardinals. Junior setter Amy Milauskas (Ellicott City, MD/Seton Keough) finished with 11 digs. WC MATCH STATS

Marymount 3, Washington College 1 (28-30, 30-25, 30-24, 30-14)
In the Shorewomen's best match of the day, they recorded 16 solo blocks, including 10 by Froning, a season-high for any Washington player. Junior middle hitter Beka Beckett (Cordova, AK/Cordova) added four solo blocks. Greenback chipped in with 17 kills, 19 digs and four service aces. Milauskas notched 32 assists. WC MATCH STATS

The Shorewomen finished the 2001 season at 1-30.
