Greenback Named All-Tournament
WC Opens Season at Invitational
CARLISLE, PA -- Freshman outside hitter Laura
Greenback (Riva, MD/South River) was named to the All-Tournament
team at the Dickinson College Invitational, where the Washington College
volleyball team opened its 2001 season yesterday and today. The Shorewomen
lost all five matches they played, but managed to take a game against
Albright and another against Notre Dame (MD).
Dickinson 3, Washington College 0 (32-30, 31-29, 32-30)
Junior middle hitter Katie Froning (Kennett Square, PA/Kennett) recorded
11 digs, while Greenback added 10. Junior defensive specialist Jen
Jump (Brooklyn Park, MD/North County) served five aces as the Shorewomen
took the Red Devils to the wire in each game. WC

Alvernia 3, Washington College 0 (30-26, 30-28, 30-11)
Greenback tallied eight kills on 14 attempts, Jump notched 11 digs,
and junior setter Amy Milauskas (Ellicott City, MD/Seton Keough)
chipped in 23 assists in WC's second match on Friday. WC

Lebanon Valley 3, Washington College 0 (30-16, 30-18, 30-19)
Sophomore outside hitter Theresa Pyzik (Baltimore, MD/Mercy) recorded
10 digs and junior middle hitter Beka Beckett (Cordova, AK/Cordova)
notched three solo blocks and assisted on two others in the Shorewomen's
first game today. WC STATS.
Albright 3, Washington College 1 (30-18,
27-30, 30-28, 30-21)
Greenback drove home 12 kills on 15 attempts and added 18 digs as the
Shorewomen took their first game of the Tournament. Froning contributed
six solo blocks, while Milauskas offered up 36 assists. WC

Notre Dame (MD) 3, Washington College
1 (23-30, 30-23, 30-20, 30-24)
Jump had a solid match against Notre Dame (MD), chalking up 12 kills
on 14 attempts and notching 23 digs. Froning added five solo blocks
and assisted on three others, while Milauskas contributed 33 assists.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday
with their 7:00 p.m. home opener against Goucher.
