Shorewomen Stuff Eagles, 7-1
Daciek Posts 6-0, 6-1 Win at No. 1 Singles

HILTON HEAD, SC -- The Washington College women's tennis team improved to 3-1 on the season with a 7-1 victory over Northwestern (MN) College today in Hilton Head, SC. The Shorewomen captured two of the three doubles matches and all five singles matches that finished.

Junior Lydia Bull (Berkeley Heights, NJ/Kent Place School) and junior Kristen Hossick (Ashton, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) defeated Rebecca Leland and Johanna Alex, 8-1, at No. 2 doubles, while senior Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) and sophomore Carrie Palmer (Dallas, TX/Greenhill School) were 8-2 winners against Jenn Porter and Amy Green at No. 3.

In singles, Daciek was a 6-0, 6-1, winner at No. 1 against Kayla Ross, while Hossick defeated Wendy Miller, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2 and Bull defeated Leland, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3. Palmer bested Porter, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5 and freshman Mary Kelley (Frederick, MD/Glenelg Country School) trumped Green, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 6. Junior Rebecca Davis (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) won the first set, 7-6, against Alex at No. 4, but that match did not finish due to darkness.

The Shorewomen return to action tomorow with a 12:00 p.m. match against Missouri Valley in Hilton Head.
