2008 HILTON HEAD, SC -- The Washington College women's tennis team won its fifth match in a row by defeating Mount Union, 9-0, in the Shorewomen's final match of their spring break trip to Hilton Head, SC, today. The Shorewomen, now 5-1 on the season, have played four matches in the past five days and have won them all by a combined score of 33-1. In doubles, senior Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) and sophomore Carrie Palmer (Dallas, TX/Greenhill School) posted an 8-3 win over Kacey Huff and Mary-Catherine Beck at No. 1, juniors Lydia Bull (Berkeley Heights, NJ/Kent Place School) and Kristen Hossick (Ashton, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) were 8-3 winners against Leslie Douglass and Marissa Hollinger at No. 2, and freshman Mary Kelley (Frederick, MD/Glenelg Country School) and junior Kate Barston (Darien, CT/Darien) defeated Nicole Camardo and Tara Biedenbach, 8-4, at No. 3. At No. 1 singles, Daciek picked up a 6-3, 6-3, victory over Huff. Bull added a 6-1, 6-1, win against Beck at No. 2, Palmer was a 6-2, 6-4, winner over Douglass at No. 3, and Hossick downed Hollinger, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4. Junior Rebecca Davis (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) trumped Camardo, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 5, while Kelley rounded out singles with a 6-2, 7-6(2) win against Samantha Cotten at No. 6. The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. home match against Elizabethtown. |
