Shorewomen Stump McDaniel, 9-0
Four Shorewomen Blank Opponents in Singles

WESTMINSTER, MD -- Visiting Washington College blanked host McDaniel College, 9-0, in a Centennial Conference women's tennis match today in Westminster, MD. The Shorewomen, who had four players shut out their opponents in singles, improved to 9-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play with the win.

Washington dropped just three games in doubles. Junior Kate Barston (Darien, CT/Darien) and freshman Mary Kelley (Frederick, MD/Glenelg Country School) beat Becky Parks and Jamie Latham, 8-1, at No. 1. Junior Kristen Hossick (Ashton, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) and junior Rebecca Davis (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) shut out Caitlin Daniels and Nataly Hartman, 8-0, at No. 2, while senior Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) and freshman Kristine Depew (Downingtown, PA/Westtown School) defeated Ali Johns and Rachel Baumgarden, 8-2, at No. 3.

The Shorewomen dropped a total of six games in singles. Barston played No. 1 singles for the first time in her collegiate career and beat Latham, 8-1. Davis defeated Parks at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0, while Depew beat Johns, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 3. Hossick beat Daniels and Palmer beat Hartman by identical 6-0, 6-0, scores at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Kelley rounded out singles with an 8-0 triumph over Baumgarden at No. 6.

The Shoremen return to action tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference match at Gettysburg.
