WC Has Strong Showing at ITA Regionals
Daciek Makes Third Round in Championship Singles

FREDERICKSBURG, VA -- Senior Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) advanced to the third round of championship draw singles and junior Lydia Bull (Berkeley Heights, NJ/Kent Place School) advanced to the quarterfinals in blue draw singles to lead the Washington College women's tennis team at the ITA Southeast Regionals this weekend at the University of Mary Washington.

Daciek, one of eight ninth seeds in singles, opened play in the championship draw with a 6-4, 6-1, win over Stefanie Leblang of Christopher Newport. She then defeated Rebecca Commito of Swarthmore, 6-1, 6-0, in the second round. In the third round, Daciek fell to sixth-seeded Kelly Will of Washington and Lee, 6-3, 6-4.

Daciek also pair with sophomore Sarah Macht (Hagerstown, MD/North Hagerstown) to compete in the championship draw of doubles. Daciek and Macht lost in the first round sixth-seeded Erica Lukoski and Rachel Wallwork of Swarthmore, 8-5. They then fell to Tori Christmas and Catherine Reed of Washington and Lee, 8-5, in the first consolation round.

Washington had three players entered in the blue draw of singles - Macht, Bull, and freshman Mary Kelley (Frederick, MD/Glenelg Country School). Bull downed Meredith's Molly Parks, 6-1, 6-0, in the first round and Washington and Lee's Katie Duncan, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, in the second round. In the third round, Bull bested Mary Washington's Megan Lawlor, 6-3, 6-2. Bull's run ended in the quarterfinals against Salisbury's Rachel Iosue, 6-2, 6-2.

Macht opened blue draw singles play with a 6-2, 7-6(4) victory over Kaitlyn Garcia of Grove City and then bested Anne Ailstock of Hollins, 6-2, 6-4, in the second round. In the third round, Macht lost to Katie Harris of Washington and Lee, 7-5, 6-1. Kelley downed Lisa Dyke of Christopher Newport, 6-2, 6-4, in the first round of blue draw, before losing to Iosue in the second round, 6-1, 7-5.

Bull and freshman Kristine Depew (Downingtown, PA/Westtown School) teamed in blue draw doubles, dropping their first round match to Lindsay Hopper and Kerry McKinley, 8-2. In the first consolation round, Bull and Depew fell to Christopher Newport's Frannie Shivar and Brittany Stevens, 8-5.

Depew was the Shorewomen's representative in gray draw singles. She lost to Grove City's Chris Sager in the first round, 6-3, 6-3. In consolation play, Depew fell to Peggy Stankevich of Carnegie Mellon, 8-6.

The Washington College women's tennis team returns to action October 5th-7th at the Centennial Conference Invitational hosted by Franklin & Marshall.
