Shorewomen Drop Diplomats, 7-2
Daciek Wins at No. 1 Singles

LANCASTER, PA -- Visiting Washington College downed host Franklin & Marshall, 7-2, in a Centennial Conference women's tennis match today in Lancaster, PA. The Shorewomen, ranked 12th in the Atlantic South region, improved to 11-5 overall and 6-3 in conference play with the win, while the Diplomats fell to 4-9 and 3-7.

Washington swept doubles, winning all three matches by 8-4 finals. Junior Kate Barston (Darien, CT/Darien) and freshman Mary Kelley (Frederick, MD/Glenelg Country School) topped Cecily Koss and Dana Russo, at No. 1, senior Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) and junior Lydia Bull (Berkeley Heights, NJ/Kent Place School) beat Dani Barish and Kelsey Tylus at No. 2, and junior Kristen Hossick (Ashton, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) and junior Rebecca Davis (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) defeated Jenna Ishkanian and Valeri Harteg at No. 3.

Daciek, ranked 14th in the region in singles, beat Barish, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 1. Hossick added a 5-7, 6-4, 10-3, win over Russo at No. 3, while sophomore Carrie Palmer (Dallas, TX/Greenhill School) was a 6-4, 6-0, winner against Ishkanian at No. 4 and Bull cruised to a 6-2, 6-1, victory against Koss at No. 5. F&M picked up its points at No. 2 and No. 6 singles. Erica Wood beat Barston, 6-2, 4-6, 10-8, at No. 2, while Tylus downed Kelley, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 6.

Washington and Dickinson will be replaying the singles portion of the match between the two teams held on April 12th by Tuesday at the latest. The previous singles portion of the match was voided by protest. The winner of the match will earn the fourth and final spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament.
