April 23, 2005 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Muhlenberg College, ranked eighth in the Atlantic South region, defeated host Washington College, ranked 15th in the region, 8-1, in a Centennial Conference women's tennis match this afternoon. The Mules improved to 11-3 overall and 8-1 in conference play, while the Shorewomen fell to 9-8 and 5-4. Junior Lyndsey Beidle (Linthicum, MD/North County) and freshman Ryoko Sawada (Kushiro, Japan/Kushiro Koryo) accounted for Washington's only point of the match with an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles. The win came on Sawada's 20th birthday. Beidle and Sawada won in doubles on Beidle's 21st birthday nine days ago. The match began at Schottland Tennis Center and was moved indoors to the Lifetime Fitness Center when a rainstorm moved through Chestertown. The Shorewomen will play their final dual match of the season Tuesday against Centennial foe McDaniel at 2:30 p.m. Match Results |
