April 26, 2005 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Senior Samantha Halpin (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) won in both singles and doubles in her final home match as the Washington College women's tennis team defeated visiting McDaniel, 9-0, in a Centennial Conference match this afternoon at Schottland Tennis Center. The Shorewomen finish their dual match schedule with a 10-8 overall record and a 6-4 mark in conference play. Halpin posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles and teamed with freshman Blake Leeser (Irvington, NY/Irvington) to notch a 9-8(4) win a No. 2 doubles. Elsewhere in singles, freshman Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1, while Leeser was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at No. 2 and junior Beth Foster (Lothian, MD/St. Mary's) added a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3. Sophomore Erika Kayukawa (Gifu, Japan/St. Mary's Girls) pulled out a 5-7, 7-6(2), 10-3 win at No. 5 and junior Lyndsey Beidle (Linthicum, MD/North County) was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at No. 6. Daciek and Foster added an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles, while Beidle and freshman Ryoko Sawada (Kushiro, Japan/Kushiro Koryo) recorded an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles. The Shorewomen will head to Swarthmore College this weekend for the Centennial Conference Tournament to be held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Match Results |
