March 29, 2005 BALTIMORE, MD -- The Washington College women's tennis team slipped to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in Centennial Conference play with a 6-3 loss to host Johns Hopkins this afternoon in Baltimore, MD. Freshman Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) posted victories in both singles and doubles in the loss. Daciek was a 6-1, 6-2, winner at No. 1 singles and teamed with senior Samantha Halpin (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) to record an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Washington junior Beth Foster (Lothian, MD/St. Mary's) supplied the Shorewomen's third point in the match with a 3-6, 7-6(5), (10-8) win at No. 3 singles. "We didn't adjust well to playing a match outside for the first time this season," remarked Washington head coach Constantine Ananiadis. "Our quality of tennis was not very good today. We have to get back to work and get better." The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with two home matches - an 11:00 a.m. conference match against Gettysburg and a 3:00 p.m. match against 28th-ranked Mary Washington. Match Results |
