Daciek Reaches Singles Semifinals
at Centennial Conference Tournament

SWARTHMORE, PA -- Washington College freshman Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) reached the semifinals in singles play at the Centennial Conference Women's Tennis Individual Championships held this weekend at Swarthmore College.

Daciek, seeded third in singles, opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Muhlenberg's Emily Oster. She then defeated Swarthmore's Elli Suzuki in the second round, 6-0, 6-7(4), 6-2. In the quarterfinals, Daciek bested sixth-seeded Tanya Gulnick of Johns Hopkins, 6-4, 6-1. Daciek fell to Muhlenberg's Amy Schmidt, the tournament's top seed, 7-6(1), 6-4, in the semifinals.

Daciek also teamed with junior Beth Foster (Lothian, MD/St. Mary's) to advance to the second round in doubles. Daciek and Foster defeated Dickinson's Erica Tobias and Emily Ruben, 8-4, before losing to Becky Busch and Michelle Liang of Johns Hopkins, 8-3.

Foster bested Dickinson's Amanda Kaplan in singles, 6-4, 6-2, before losing to eighth-seeded Sara Marian Siebert of Gettysburg, 6-2, 6-4, in the second round.
