April 19, 2005 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College women's tennis team posted a 9-0 win over visiting Bryn Mawr this afternoon at Schottland Tennis Center. The Shorewomen improved to 8-7 overall and 5-3 in conference play with the win. Washington won all five contested singles matches and both of the contested doubles matches. The Owls defaulted at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles. Freshman Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) posted a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, while freshman Blake Leeser (Irvington, NY/Irvington) posted a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 and junior Beth Foster (Lothian, MD/St. Mary's) was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 3. Senior Samantha Halpin (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) recorded a 7-6(5), 6-2 win at No. 4, while sophomore Erika Kayukawa (Gifu, Japan/St. Mary's Girls) contributed a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5. In doubles, Daciek and Foster recorded an 8-3 win at No. 1 and junior Lyndsey Beidle (Linthicum, MD/North County) and freshman Ryoko Sawada (Kushiro, Japan/Kushiro Koryo) posted an 8-5 win at No. 2. The Shorewomen are back in action tomorrow with a 3:30 p.m. match at Eastern Shore rival Salisbury. Match Results |
