15, 2004 FREDERICKSBURG, VA -- Host Mary Washington College, the 30th-ranked team in Division III and the sixth-ranked team in the Atlantic South region, defeated Washington College, 6-3, in a women's tennis match this afternoon in Fredericksburg, VA. The Shorewomen, tied for eighth in the region, slipped to 6-7 on the season with the loss. Seniors Ne'ko Browder (Bronx, NY/Herbert H. Lehman) and Shoko Nakamura (Osaka, Japan/Osaka Jogakuin) won in both singles and doubles for the Shorewomen. Browder, ranked fifth in the region in singles, defeated Ashley Tucker, the region's 22nd-ranked singles player, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 1 singles, while Nakamura, ranked 21st in the region in singles, topped Kim Colwell, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 2. In doubles, Browder and Nakamura, ranked fifth in the region in doubles, posted an 8-1 win over Tucker and Colwell, the 19th-ranked doubles team in the region. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference match at Muhlenberg.
