21, 2002 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College Shorewomen won their first conference match of the season today and improved to 6-1 overall with an 8-1 victory over visiting Ursinus today at Schottland Tennis Pavilion. WC won all three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches in the contest. In doubles, sophomores Ne'ko Browder (Bronx, NY/Herbert H. Lehman) and Shoko Nakamura (Osaka, Japan/Osaka Jogakuin) won 8-0 at No. 1. Junior Devon Hufnal (Dover, DE/Dover) and senior Erin Spatafore (Reisterstown, MD/Franklin) won 8-2 at No. 2, while sophomores Linda Hooks (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) and Christina Vouros (Salisbury, MD/Worcester Prep) posted an 8-0 victory at No. 3. Browder won at No. 1 by a 6-0, 6-1 score to lead singles play. Nakamura won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 and Hufnal won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3. Spatafore posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5, while Vouros notched a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6. Ursinus's Priscilla Kean earned a point for the Bears with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Hooks at No. 4. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. Centennial match at Muhlenberg.
