9, 2002 HILTON HEAD, SC -- The Washington College Shorewomen won all but one game during a 9-0 sweep against Guilford College today in Hilton Head, SC. The Shorewomen improved to 4-1 with the win, while the Quakers fell to 1-2. The Shorewomen won each singles match 6-0, 6-0. Sophomores Ne'ko Browder (Bronx, NY/Herbert H. Lehman) and Shoko Nakamura (Osaka, Japan/Osaka Jogakuin) won at the No. 1 and No. 2, respectively; junior Devon Hufnal (Dover, DE/Dover) and sophomore Linda Hooks (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) won at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively; and sophomore Christina Vouros (Salisbury, MD/Worcester Prep) and freshman Samantha Halpin (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) won at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Browder and Nakamura won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles and Vourous and Halpin won 8-0 at No. 3. Hufnal and Hooks posted an 8-1 win at No. 2. The Shorewomen, ranked 12th in the Atlantic South region, return to action with their final match in Hilton Head tomorrow against Mississippi College at 4:00 p.m.
