WC Has Strong Tournament Showing
Browder Second in Singles, Doubles

HAVERFORD, PA -- The Washington College Shorewomen claimed second place in the both the singles and doubles portions of the Centennial Conference Tournament hosted by Haverford College this weekend.

Sophomore Ne'ko Browder (Bronx, NY/Herbert H. Lehman) advanced to the finals in both singles and doubles. In singles, she opened with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Swarthmore's Megan Speare. In the second round, she cruised past Franklin & Marshall's Abby Rudolph, 6-0, 6-0. Browder continued her run with a pair of wins over Haverford players. In the quarterfinals, she defeated Anya Moyston 6-2, 6-3, and in the semifinals she downed Alyssa Kennedy, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. In the final, Browder lost to Swarthmore's Anjani Reddy, 6-1, 6-3, and suffered an injury that kept her out of the doubles final and forced the Shorewomen to default that match.

Browder and her doubles partner, junior Devon Hufnal (Dover, DE/Dover) began their march to a finals berth with an 8-1 win over Molly George and Allison Wagner of Ursinus. In the quarterfinals, they bested Sarah Neibler and Megan Schreiber of Muhlenberg, 8-1 and in the semifinals they upset Reddy and Kristina Pao, 8-2. After WC was forced to pull out of the final, Haverford's team of Kennedy and Moyston were declared the champions.
