27, 2007 CHESTER, PA - The Washington College women's swimming team improved to 4-1 overall this season and ran its non-conference win streak to 44 meets with a 145-55 win over host Widener University tonight in Chester, PA. Senior Megan Morse (Easton, MD/Sts. Peter & Paul), freshman Rachel Glasser (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook), and sophomore Kathy Gerhart (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville Area) each won two individual events in the victory. Morse captured the 200 individual medley in 2:17.43 and the 100 freestyle in 55.56. Glasser won the 200 freestyle in 2:00.15 and the 500 freestyle in 5:23.32. Gerhart took the 50 freestyle in 26.01 and the 200 butterfly in 2:17.49. Senior Nicole Ludwig (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:35.87, while freshman Laura Lazenby (Falmouth, ME/Falmouth) was first in the 1000 freestyle in 11:34.67. Junior Brittany Siburt (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) was second in both the 1000 freestyle (11:55.91) and the 200 butterfly (2:28.60). Junior Cara Choplin (West Deptford, NJ/Bishop Eustace) added a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle in 5:42.91, while junior Andrea Cole (Felton, DE/Caesar Rodney) was second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:36.91. The Shorewomen won both relay events as sophomore Amy Smith (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville Area), sophomore Liz Thomas (Towson, MD/Notre Dam Prep), Glasser, and sophomore Cailin Eisele (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Egg Harbor Township) won the 200 medley relay in 1:57.37, while Morse, Eisele, Smith, and Gerhart were first in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:45.36. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference meet at Bryn Mawr.
