Alpha Omicron Pi will be holding the first annual Queen of the Roses 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, October 26th, to benefit a scholarship named in honor of Jasmine Queen. Jasmine, who would have been a junior this fall, passed away in August. She was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority as well as of the Washington College softball team.

Registration will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Wilmer Park in Chestertown. Registration cost is $15 until October 19th, $20 after that and on the day of the event. Registration for Washington College students is $10. Registration can be done by mail or online at TriSportsEvents.com by clicking on the Queen of the Roses link. Make checks payable and mail to Alpha Omicron Pi, 2772 Hazlettville Road, Dover, DE 19904.

The race will be run mostly on country roads on a mostly fast and flat course. The race will also feature police-controlled roads, mile markers and arrows painted on the road, and water and volunteers on the course. Awards for top overall finishers and top age-group winner will be presented an awards ceremony to follow the race. Queen of the Roses t-shirts will be provided to all pre-registered participants. Food, music, and entertainment will be provided following the race. Results and photos will be posted on TriSportsEvents.com.
