2008 LANCASTER, PA -- Washington College junior pitcher Emily Adams (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda-Chevy Chase) garnered Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week honors as announced on March 31 by the conference office. She is the first Washington pitcher to earn this award since then freshman Michelle Laque (Ocean Pines, MD/Stephen Decatur) was named pitcher of the week on May 1, 2005. Adams
went 2-0, with a 0.00 ERA, zero walks, zero wild pitches and allowed just five
hits in 14 innings pitched this past week. She held batters to a .102 batting
average (5-for-49) in her two starts and had a WHIP (Walks + Hits/Innings Pitched)
of 0.71. Against Immaculata on March 26, she retired the side in order in five
of seven innings, including the first 12 batters she faced. The hurler allowed
just two hits and an unearned run in the victory over Immaculata. Versus McDaniel,
she fired her second complete game of the week, this time being a shutout, her
first of the season. Adams retired the first 12 batters she faced and retired
the side in order on four occasions. Allowing just three hits, she finished the
shutout with a strikeout. For the season, Adams is 4-2 with a 2.30 ERA, five complete games and one shutout. She has not allowed an earned run in the last 15 innings. |
