Sea Gulls Take Two from Shorewomen
Hartman Goes 2-for-3 in Opener

SALISBURY, MD -- Host Salisbury University swept both ends of a non-conference softball double-header over visiting Washington College this afternoon in Salisbury, MD. The Sea Gulls took game one, 7-1, and posted a 7-0 shutout in game two.

In the opener, Salisbury scored a run in the third inning, two in the fourth, and four in the six to take a 7-0 lead. Washington committed a pair of errors in the sixth to aid the Salisbury cause. The Sea Gulls got home runs from Stacey Malarkey and Tee Dronenburg in the win. Washington scored its run in the seventh inning when sophomore Emily Adams (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda-Chevy Chase) scored on a single by junior Irene Pastorino (Swarthmore, PA/Cardinal O'Hara). WC senior Beth Anne Hartman (Ellicott City, MD/Baltimore Lutheran) was the only player on either team with multiple hits in the first game, going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Stacy Davis got the win in the first game, allowing six hits and one walk in seven innings. Adams took the loss, allowing six hits and two walks in six innings. Three of the seven runs Adams gave up were unearned.

The Sea Gulls jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second game in the first inning, then added a run in the second and three more in the fourth. Malarkey went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored for Salisbury in the second game. Kirsten Wells got the win by allowing just three hits and no walks while striking out four batters.

The Shorewomen will finish their season Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home double-header against Gettysburg.
