Dickinson Blanks Shorewomen Twice

CARLISLE, PA -- Host Dickinson College posted a pair of shutout victories over visiting Washington College in a Centennial Conference softball double-header today in Carlisle, PA. The Red Devils (14-11, 7-5 Centennial) won game one, 2-0, and took game two, 6-0. The Shorewomen fell to 9-23 overall and 2-10 in conference play with the pair of losses.

Dickinson scored a run in the first inning and another in the fourth inning of the opener and that would be all Allison Jordan would need as she tossed seven inning of four-hit shutout ball for the Red Devils. Jordan struck out four batters and walked one. Alex Speace, Kaitlyn McDonald, and Theresa Souza each had two hits for Dickinson. One of Souza's hits was a double. Doubles by Washington junior Megan Russell (Federalsburg, MD/Seaford Christian, DE) and senior Beth Anne Hartman (Ellicott City, MD/Baltimore Lutheran) in the opener would prove to be the Shorewomen's lone extra base hits of the day.

In the second game, the Red Devils scored a run in the first inning and another in the fifth before piling on four runs in the six. Jordan again got the win for Dickinson, allowing just two hits and a walk in the shutout. Rachel Fleming went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in game two, while Speace was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored.

The Shorewomen return to action tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference double-header at Franklin & Marshall.
