Garnet Sweep Shorewomen
Adams Records Three Hits in Game Two

SWARTHMORE, PA -- The Washington College Shorewomen dropped both ends of a Centennial Conference doubleheader against host Swarthmore College Tuesday afternoon. Swarthmore won game one, 2-1, and defeated Washington, 4-2, in game two. Freshman pitcher Emily Adams (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda-Chevy Chase) went 3-for-3 at the plate in game two.

Senior pitcher Diane Green (Milford, DE/Milford) started game one in the circle for Washington, but left the game with an injury after facing only three batters. Sophomore pitcher Tricia Carroll (Owings Mills, MD/Owings Mills) finished the game in the circle for the Shorewomen, allowing only two runs in five and two-thirds innings of work. Freshman outfielder Stef Morgan (Audubon, NJ/Audubon) and sophomore catcher Kim Proctor (Ferndale, MD/Inst. of Notre Dame) each went 2-for-3 at the plate for Washington in the game one loss.

Adams provided solid pitching in game two for Washington, but it was not enough as the Shorewomen fell on the short end of the 4-2 decision. Defensive mistakes haunted Washington, as only one of the four runs given up by Adams in the circle was earned. Freshman infielder Meghan Luterzo (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ/St. Mary's) went 2-for-3 at the plate with a RBI in game two.

The Shorewomen (13-19 overall, 4-8 Centennial) return to action Thursday with a 3:00 p.m. non-conference home doubleheader against Widener.
