13, 2006 KISSIMMEE, FL -- The Washington College softball team dropped two games at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, FL, this afternoon. The Shorewomen fell to Geneseo, 4-0, in their first game of the day and lost to UW-Platteville, 1-0, in their second game. In the loss to Geneseo, Washington sophomore Kim Proctor (Ferndale, MD/Inst. of Notre Dame) went 2-for-3. Senior Diane Green (Milford, DE/Milford), sophomore Amanda Campbell (Boothwyn, PA/Garnet Valley), freshman Stef Morgan (Audubon, NJ/Audubon), and senior Laura Mozzer (Tolland, CT/Tolland) each had one hit. Green took the loss, allowing four runs - only one of them earned - on eight hits in seven innings. Audrey Kuhn pitched the shutout for Geneseo, allowing six hits. She also went 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI, a run scored, and a walk. UW-Platteville scored the only run of the game in the Pioneers' win over the Shorewomen when Katie Jo Crubaugh drove in Nikki Hansen with a two-out single in the bottom of the first inning. Washington's biggest threat to tie the score came in the fifth inning when the Shorewomen had runners on first and third with one out, but the Pioneers got out of the jam. Morgan went 2-for-3 with a double for Washington in the loss to UW-Platteville, recording the Shorewomen's only two hits of the game. Freshman Emily Adams (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda-Chevy Chase) took the loss for Washington, allowing one earned run on six hits and a walk in five innings. Katie Larson got the win for the Pioneers, allowing two hits and a walk in seven innings, while striking out four batters. The Shorewomen (3-5) return to action tomorrow at the Rebel Spring Games, where they will play Concordia (WI) at 11:30 a.m. and Anderson at 1:30 p.m. |
