29, 2006 GETTYSBURG, PA -- Host Gettysburg College swept visiting Washington College in a Centennial Conference softball double-header today in Gettysburg, PA. The Bullets (25-13, 8-8 Centennial) blanked the Shorewomen, 11-0, in five innings in game one, and rallied to win game two, 5-4. Washington fell to 14-22 overall and 4-10 in conference play with the losses. Shannon Kiry allowed just one hit in picking up the win for the Bullets in the opener. Heather Sagaities went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Katie Eiden scored three runs. Freshman Stef Morgan (Audubon, NJ/Audubon) recorded Washington's only hit in the opener. Washington held a 4-2 lead in game two before the Bullets mounted a two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh. Sagaities tripled and scored off a single by Abbe Miller to make it 4-3. Jessica Wallick tied the game with an RBI single, while an RBI single by Tayler Cianciotta completed the comeback win. Wallick was 3-for-4 in game two, while Miller went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Kiry got the game two win, allowing one run on four hits in five innings of relief. Senior Jess Hoff (Hatboro, PA/Germantown Acad.), senior Laura Mozzer (Tolland, CT/Tolland), and sophomore Kim Proctor (Ferndale, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) each had two hits for the Shorewomen. One of Proctor's hits was a triple. The Shorewomen close out their 2006 season tomorrow with a Centennial Conference home double-header against Dickinson beginning at 1:00 p.m. |
