McDaniel Sweeps Shorewomen
Campbell Homers in Opener

WESTMINSTER, MD -- Host McDaniel College swept visiting Washington College in a Centennial Conference softball double-header this afternoon in Westminster, MD. The Green Terror (8-11, 4-0 Centennial) won game one, 6-2, and took game two, 5-3. The Shorewomen fell to 11-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play with the losses.

Washington took a 2-0 lead through two innings of game one, but the Green Terror scored two runs in the third and two each in the fifth and sixth to earn the victory. Freshman Amanda Campbell (Boothwyn, PA/Garnet Valley) homered and walked in the game for the Shorewomen, while freshman Kim Proctor (Ferndale, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Sophomore Beth Anne Hartman (Ellicott City, MD/Baltimore Lutheran) had a base hit and scored a run in the opener.

McDaniel grabbed a 5-0 lead in game two before Washington plated three runs in the fifth inning. The Green Terror held off the Shorewomen the rest of the way to get the win. Senior Laura Scimeca (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) and senior Andrea Braverman (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) each had a base hit and scored a run for Washington. Braverman also walked and drove in a run. Campbell also scored a run in the second game.

The Shorewomen return to action tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home double-header against Franklin & Marshall.
