Walk-Off Single Completes Sweep
Shorewomen Take Two from F&M

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Washington College freshman Amanda Campbell (Boothwyn, PA/Garnet Valley) hit a walk-off single in game two to complete the Shorewomen's sweep of visiting Franklin & Marshall in a Centennial Conference softball double-header this afternoon in Chestertown, MD. The Shorewomen (13-7, 3-3 Centennial) won game one, 9-2, and took game two, 5-4, on Campbell's clutch hit.

Campbell gave the Shorewomen their first lead of the second game when she belted a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to put Washington up, 4-2. The Diplomats rallied to tie the score, scoring a run in the top of the sixth and another in the top of the seventh. Campbell's game-winning hit, which drove in junior Laura Mozzer (Tolland, CT/Tolland) came with one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh.

Campbell, who finished with four RBI in the second game, went 2-for-3 with a walk. Freshman Kim Proctor (Ferndale, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) was 2-for-4 with two runs scored in the second game for Washington. Freshman Michelle Laque (Ocean Pines, MD/Stephen Decatur) picked up the game two win, allowing one earned run on three walks and eight hits in seven innings of work. She struck out six F&M batters in the victory.

In the opener, the Shorewomen scored four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-2 lead and never looked back. Junior Diane Green (Milford, DE/Milford) went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBI, and a run scored in the first game. Proctor was 3-for-5 with a run scored, while Mozzer finished 2-for-2 with a walk, a sacrifice bunt, and three runs scored. Campbell went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while sophomore Beth Anne Hartman (Ellicott City, MD/Baltimore Lutheran) scored two runs and drove in another. Green picked up the win in game one, allowing one earned run on four hits and two walks in seven innings of work.

The Shorewomen return to action Tuesday with a 3:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home double-header against Ursinus.
