Shorewomen Sweep Dickinson
Braverman Wins Game Two with 3-Run Double

CARLISLE, PA -- Senior Andrea Braverman (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) hit a three-run double in the seventh inning of game two to complete a Centennial Conference softball double-header sweep for visiting Washington College over host Dickinson College this afternoon in Carlisle, PA. Washington won the first game, 9-0, and rallied to win the second game, 7-5. The Shorewomen improved to 18-14 overall and 6-8 in conference play with the two wins, while the Red Devils fell to 9-19 and 5-7.

The Shorewomen trailed, 5-2, heading into the seventh inning. Washington had cut the lead to 5-4 by the time Braverman stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs. Braverman cleared the bases with her double and the Shorewomen got through the bottom of the inning to complete the sweep.

Braverman walked and scored a run to go along with her clutch hit in the second game. Freshman Amanda Campbell (Boothwyn, PA/Garnet Valley) singled, walked twice, and scored two runs, while sophomore Meg Lucas (Pasadena, MD/Northeast) singled twice. Sophomore Beth Anne Hartman (Ellicott City, MD/Baltimore Lutheran), senior Laura Scimeca (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown), and freshman Bailey Manuel (Goldvein, VA/Liberty) each walked and scored a run in the second game. Freshman Michelle Laque (Ocean Pines, MD/Stephen Decatur) picked up the game-two win.

Junior Diane Green (Milford, DE/Milford) pitched a four-hit shutout in the opener as Washington cruised to a 9-0 win. Eight hitters in the Washington starting line-up had at least one hit in the opener. At the top of the order, Hartman had two hits and two RBI, junior Laura Mozzer (Tolland, CT/Tolland) had a pair of hits and a run scored, and Green had a single, a double, and a run scored. In the middle of the line-up, freshman Kim Proctor (Ferndale, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) hit a two-run double, Scimeca singled, walked, and scored a run, and Campbell had two hits and a run scored. At the bottom of the line-up, Braverman single and scored a run and sophomore Maria Hogg (Marriottsville, MD/Liberty) had two hits and scored two runs.

Washington's 18 wins this season match the second-highest win total for any year in team history. The Shorewomen went 18-14 in 1999 and won a school-record 21 games, while losing nine and tying one, in 1997.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with their final double-header of the regular season, a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home twin bill against Gettysburg.
