9, 2004 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Washington College sophomore Diane Green (Milford, DE/Milford) became just the second player in school history to hit two home runs in a single game and broke the school record for home runs in a season today, but the host Shorewomen dropped both ends of a Centennial Conference double-header against Muhlenberg College. The visiting Mules (13-7, 6-4 Centennial) won game one, 5-0, and took game two, 16-3. Muhlenberg pitcher Danielle DeLucia hurled a two hitter and went two-for-three at the plate with two RBI and a run scored in game one. Junior Laura Scimeca (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) and freshman Maria Hogg (Marriottsville, MD/Liberty) each had one hit for the Shorewomen. Green's two home runs came in game two, in the first and third innings, respectively. Both were hit to left field with the win blowing in. With her two-homer performance in game two, Green increased her total this season to seven, breaking the Washington College school record of six set by Michelle Rodney in 2001. Rodney hit two home runs in a single game twice in 2001 and is the only player in team history other than Green to accomplish the feat. The Mules plated 10 runs in the fourth inning of game two en route to the 16-3 win. Muhlenberg banged out 17 hits in the game. Jackie Maser led the Mule offense with a four-for-four performance at the plate, five RBI, and three runs scored. Scimeca went two-for-three with a double and an RBI for the Shorewomen. The Shorewomen return to action Tuesday with a 3:00 p.m. Centennial Conference double-header at Swarthmore.
