Shorewomen Split with Fords
Harrigan Goes 5-for-7 in Twin Bill

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Freshman Tara Harrigan (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went a combined five-for-seven at the plate as the host Washington College Shorewomen split a Centennial Conference softball double-header with visiting Haverford this afternoon. The Fords (8-10, 1-3 Centennial) won the first game, 5-4, but the Shorewomen (6-11-1, 1-3) bounced back to win the second game, 8-1.

Haverford rallied to take the first game by scoring three runs with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, turning a 4-2 deficit into a 5-4 lead. Sarah Nagle doubled twice, scored two runs, and drove in two runs in the opener for Haverford. Harrigan was three-for-four in game one, while WC junior Laura Scimeca (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) hit a two-run double.

In the second game, the Shorewomen led 3-1 before scoring five runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull away. Harrigan went two-for-three in game two with two RBI and a run scored. Freshman Maria Hogg (Marriottsville, MD/Liberty) drove in a pair of runs for the Shorewomen, while sophomore Diane Green (Milford, DE/Milford) scored two runs.

Green got the win on the mound in game two, allowing one unearned run on three hits and three walks in five innings of work. Sophomore Jessica Quarto (Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield) pitched the final two innings of the victory, allowing no runs on one hit and no walks. Quarto also drove in a run and scored a run.

The Shorewomen are scheduled to play a non-conference home double-header tomorrow against Wesley beginning at 3:00 p.m.
