17, 2004 CARLISLE, PA -- The Washington College softball team split a Centennial Conference double-header with visiting Dickinson College this afternoon at the WC Softball Field. Dickinson claimed game one, 14-6, but the Shorewomen bounced back to win game two, 6-4. Washington sophomore Diane Green (Milford, DE/Milford) went three-for-three at the plate with two RBI and a run scored in the opener, while junior Laura Scimeca (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) was two-for-three with a walk, two RBI, and two runs scored. Sophomore Laura Mozzer (Tolland, CT/Tolland) had a pair of hits in the loss. The Red Devils held a 4-3 lead in game two before the Shorewomen rallied to score three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Senior Theresa Pyzik (Baltimore, MD/Mercy) hit an RBI single in the inning and Mozzer followed with a two-run double in the next at bat. Green went two-for-three at the plate in the win with a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI. Scimeca homered in the second inning. Mozzer finished the game two-for-three with three RBI, while freshman Beth Anne Hartman (Ellicott City, MD/Baltimore Lutheran) went three-for-four with a run scored. Sophomore Jessica Quarto (Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield) picked up the win on the mound, allowing four runs, three of them earned, on 10 hits. The Shorewomen (8-17-1 overall, 3-9 Centennial) will play another Centennial Conference home double-header tomorrow as they face McDaniel at 1:00 p.m..
