24, 2003 CHESTER, PA -- The Washington College softball team split a double-header at Widener University this afternoon. The Shorewomen, now 8-4 overall, lost the first game to Widener, now 9-5, by a 2-1 final. In the second game, WC bounced back to post a 7-3 win. Junior Fallon Dillon (Grasonville, MD/Queen Anne's County) took the loss in game one, despite scattering five hits. The Shorewomen scored their only run when junior Renee Springston (Pasadena, MD/Northeast) doubled and was driven in by a single from senior Christie Allebach (Telford, PA/Souderton Area). Springston was three-for-three in the game, while Allebach was two-for-three with a double as her other hit. Freshman Diane Green (Milford, DE/Milford) got the win on the mound in the second game. Freshman Laura Mozzer (Tolland, CT/Tolland) had a pair of hits, scored a run, and had one RBI. Senior Julie Bahus (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Spalding) scored a pair of runs, while sophomore Andrea Braverman (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) had a run scored and an RBI. The Shorewomen are back in action Wednesday with a 3:00 p.m. double-header at Villa Julie. |
