WC Scores 30 Runs in Sweep of Pacers
Scimeca, Green Homer for Shorewomen

FT. PIERCE, FL -- The Washington College softball team improved to 6-2 this season with a sweep of Marywood University today in Ft. Pierce, FL. The Shorewomen won the first game, 10-2, and then cruised to a 20-4 win in game two.

Sophomore Laura Scimeca (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) homered in the first game and finished two-for-four with three RBI. Freshman Diane Green (Milford, DE/Milford) and junior Renee Springston (Pasadena, MD/Northeast) each went three-for-four at the plate. Springston tripled, scored two runs, and knocked in two runs. Green and sophomore Andrea Braverman (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown), who had two hits in the game, each scored two runs. Senior Christie Allebach (Telford, PA/Souderton Area) hit a triple. Junior Fallon Dillon (Grasonville, MD/Queen Anne's County) got the win on the mound.

In game two, Green hit her first collegiate home run, a three-run shot, and finished with three hits and two runs scored to go along with her three RBI. Freshman Krista Dant (Elkton, MD/Bohemia Manor) drove in four runs, scored two others, and had two hits in the game. Scimeca was two-for-three at the plate with a triple, two runs scored, and three RBI, while Springston had two hits and scored three runs. Braverman added two hits, two runs, and an RBI and freshman Laura Mozzer (Tolland, CT/Tolland) had a double and scored two runs. Senior Alexis Stapanon (Lexington Park, MD/Great Mills) added two hits and an RBI. Junior Natalie Liccketto (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights) drove in a run with a pinch-hit single. Freshman Jessica Quarto (Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield) picked up the win in the second game.

The Shorewomen are now more than halfway to last year's win total of 11. Washington's sixth win of the 2002 season came on April 2nd in the 14th game on the schedule.

The Shorewomen are back in action March 22nd when they host Catholic for a 1:00 p.m. double-header.
