16, 2002 SWARTHMORE, PA -- The Washington College Shorewomen improved to 10-15-1 overall and 5-9 in the Centennial Conference with a pair of victories at Swarthmore this afternoon. The Shorewomen won the first game, 14-3 and took the second contest, 4-2. The Shorewomen held a 5-3 lead in the first game going into the seventh inning before getting nine runs across in the final frame. Freshman shortstop Laura Scimeca (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) went four-for-four with three RBI, three runs scored, two doubles, and a triple in the game. Senior centerfielder Michelle Rodney (Rock Hall, MD/Kent County) was three-for-five with four runs scored and two stolen bases. Freshman Andrea Braverman (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) knocked in two runs, while sophomore thirdbaseman Renee Springston (Pasadena, MD/Northeast) and sophomore firstbaseman Fallon Dillon (Grasonville, MD/Queen Anne's County) each had a pair of hits. Sophomore outfielder Natalie Liccketto (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights) hit a double and walked twice. In the second game, Scimeca completed a six-for-seven day with a two-for-three performance at the plate. Rodney and Bahus each went two-for-three with two runs scored, while Braverman and Springston each had a pair of hits and two RBI. The 14 runs marked a new season-high for the Shorewomen, who return to action with a non-conference double-header at 20th-ranked Salisbury Thursday at 3:00 p.m. |
